Kosova is an exquisitely beautiful country.
MaK is building the Manchester Peace Park in Podujevë, Kosovo with the local Municipality, to provide a resource for the community for recreation, rehabilitation and education.
We have created a garden for reflection and a central arena for meetings and performance. With the Eden Project we are developing a horticultural programme for Peace Park staff.
In 2011 young wildlife photographer Matt Hamilton captured what was going on in the Peace Park garden, the Park woodland and surrounding Podujevë countryside. He enjoyed presenting his film in Podujevë schools and plans to help develop MaK’s ecology, conservation and educational work, encouraging young people to value and protect their environment.
MaK works with Ekovizioni – Kosova’s organisation for young ecologists. Many young people turmed out on Kosova’s ‘Cleaning Day’ to give the Manchester Peace Park a good clean-up. MaK has also supported the formation of a Green Club at a Podujeva school.
